The Flauto d’Amore Project is a collaborative initiative between performers and composers, aimed at the creation of a new music repertoire for the flauto d’amore, an instrument so far unknown and never used in modern times.
As a response to the COVID-19 emergency, and the related loss of opportunities and work for music performers and composers, we have started the Creativity Quarantine – a Facebook-based call for scores, where composers were asked to write short pieces for the flauto d’amore, and we committed to record and remote-premiere them in the span of a few days.
The overwhelming response to this idea has shown the thirst for artists to come together and join forces during challenging times of grief and confusion. The remote collaboration has proved to be a means of relief and positive focus for all involved and has yielded 24 pieces by composers from six countries in three continents, including live duets, remote duets, electronics and even a venture in jazz. Furthermore, it has created connections, inspiration, friendship.
You can listen to all of this in our first Bandcamp album.
Here, we are proud to present our specific collaboration with the New York Composers Circle, with five pieces inspired by New York City's response to the COVID-19 emergency. Visit their website for more information:

The proceeds from this album will be donated to the New Music USA Solidarity Fund, whose endeavor is precious during these times to sustain the welfare of new music performers.
